Nokia 9 with OZO Audio, 22MP Dual-Lens Camera and Iris Scanner will be a flagship killer
Nokia is making a loud comeback in the smartphone industry and the according to leaks, the upcoming Nokia 9, formerly Nokia P1 may just be the flagship killer we all are hoping for. It also seems that Nokia will have some technologies similar to what it had during the Windows Phone and Symbian days.
HMD and Nokia are planning release Nokia 9 as the flagship device. Rumors say that it will be a 5.5 inch device with a QHD screen and an OLED display. Also, it will be the first smartphone to feature Nokia OZO Audio enhancements. Nokia OZO Audio is similar to Nokia Rich Capture that was present in older Nokia smartphones running Windows Phone that provided rich directional audio recording. Nokia OZO Audio takes in a way further by recording audio more precisely and with more fidelity.
Nokia OZO has already been tested by Nokia on prototype phones and the results are mind blowing. It also shows how much impaired audio recording is on standard mobile devices. It’s something that we often overlook. You can watch a video featuring Nokia OZO Audio here.
Another important feature is the 22-megapixel dual-lens Carl-Zeiss rear camera and 12-megapixel front-facing camera. The high pixel count may be similarly used like it was used in Nokia 1020 or 1520 – to produce lower resolution photos but with great detail and amazing quality. Nokia 1020 with over 40 million pixels produced around 7 megapixel photos with almost no noise.
Nokia cannot use PureView now because of licensing issues, but it can implement a similar technology – something that is worth having on a phone. Carl Zeiss optics ensures sharp coma free and distortion free photographs.
An anonymous tip also included an Iris scanner. Under the hood, Nokia 9 is rumored to have Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU, 6 GB RAM, 64GB or 128GB internal storage and a 3800mAh battery with Qualcomm Quickcharge 4. Nokia 9 will be water and dust resistant phone with IP68 certification. It will run on Android Nougat 7.1.2.
Although it is still a rumor, Nokia 9 is a strong possibility. We can expect Nokia 9 to be release with Nokia 8 and Nokia 7, a more modest version of Nokia 8 during the second half of 2017.
