Acer TravelMate Spin B1 Convertible is perfect for those who don’t take care of their devices

Acer’s newest addition to the notebook for educational consumers is an 11.6  inch convertible. Designed for rough handling, especially in the classroom scenarios, the Acer TravelMate Spin B1 Convertible is one versatile notebook running Windows 10 Pro.

Focused on Durability and Longevity

In spite of being a convertible, the TravelMate Spin B1 Convertible does not focus on ergonomics, or thinness. Rather the device is slightly on the bulkier side. However, the small screen size still makes it very portable. Sized conveniently like a book, this convertible by Acer is designed to maximize uptime and minimize maintenance.

For starters, battery life is rated to be 13 hours. Double digit battery like rating is not seen much these days. Even if it provides 3/4th of that uptime, that would still be enough for school and beyond. In terms of durability, there is a shock-absorbent middle rubber frame that can handle drops or tumbles. The pressure-resistant screen with increased strength can withstand frontal impact of up to 60Kgf. A spill resistant keyboard can take 11 ounces of liquid. There is a gutter system under the keyboard and the touchpad that keeps the liquid away from the internal components and drains them. The chiclet keyboard offers decent haptic feedback and the touchpad also supports Windows 10 gestures.

Loaded with Windows 10 exclusive features

The TravelMate Spin B1 Convertible makes good use of Windows 10. It comes with Windows Ink support which will allow students to use OneNote instead of pen and paper. Also, Acer is providing a TeachSmart software that works in conjunction with the multi-color LED on the device cover. It can be used to communicate with the teacher, take quizzes, share class materials and more.

Internal configurations are not disclosed. The processor should be a basic Intel Core CPU with Intel HD graphics on board. It is highly likely for RAM to not exceed 4 gigabytes. However, these are just speculations.

In terms of ports and connectivity, the 11.6 inch device offers a lot. There is dual-band 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port and one HDMI port. There is also a SD card reader and 3.5mm headphone jack.
