BlackBerry Aurora running Android 7.0 with a 5.5-inch touchscreen display leaked
All the dead phone brands are coming back to life this year, starting with Nokia, and now Blackberry. Like Nokia is a brand name that is being used by HMD Global, Blackberry branding is also licensed to a number of organizations globally. This device will be made by TCL communications. This is the same company that made the BlackBerry KeyOne, which was announced at MWC 2017 .
The phone is a decent mid range Android phone that comes with the Blackberry logo. The phone itself is pretty generic when it comes to the specs and does not come with Blackberry’s signature physical keypad like the KeyOne that was introduced at the Mobile World Congress a few days back.
Here are the specifications
- 720 x 1280 AMOLED 5.5 inch
- Dual micro SIM card
- Android OS 7, Convenience Key
- MSM8917 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425
- 3000 mAh battery with 20 hour talk time
- 13-megapixel main camera, phase detection auto focus, LED flash dual tone
- 8-megapixel front camera, with LED flash
- 4 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM, expandable up to 256 GB
- Dimensions 152 x 76.8 x 8.55 mm
- Weight 178 grams
From the specs, the RAM and the camera will be a good selling point. With a 13MP CMOS camera and dual tome flash, you can expect to do decent photography. 4 GB RAM means that you can do away with memory cleaning utilities. However, the low resolution screen may be a deal breaker for some. Still, the lower resolution will help conserve battery power. Again, the processor is also on the weaker side.
The device is targeted for Indonesian market. There’s no word on whether it will be available globally or in the US.
While there’s still no official announcement as of yet, most retailers have set their pricing around IDR3.499.000 which is USD $262 and shipments are expected to arrive starting March 13th. You can check out more on the BlackBerry Aurora official product page.
