Smriti Irani: once a popular actress, now an upright Minister
While many know Smriti Irani as the television actress who starred in the hit television series kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi Nahi thi that aired around the 2000s, her other works have gone under the radar. She starred in many television series before she was appointed as the minister of textiles in the year 2016. Before she turned her attention to politics, Smriti Irani was one of the most popular and highest-paid television actresses at her prime. She has also worked as a producer. She and Ekta Kapoor were known as a winning combo who could make any TV series a hit.

Smriti Irani was born as Smriti Malhotra Irani in a Punjabi family. Her father was Punjabi and mother Bengali in the year 1976 in India. When she came into the spotlight, she chose her stage name to be Smriti Irani. After giving the biggest hit of her life, then married Zubin Irani in the year 2000. Her marriage with Zubin produced two children–a son and a daughter named zoish Irani and zohr Irani. Zubin also had a daughter from a previous marriage, Chanelle Irani.

Ek Thi naayka
Her latest TV serial was Ek thi naayka, which was aired in the year 2013. This was planned as a miniseries to lay the groundwork for another show starring Smriti Irani, Ek thi daayan. The miniseries only had 16 episodes in total. This was the first time Smriti had decided to be a part of a horror TV show. Smriti played the role of Swati and appeared in only 2 episodes. The miniseries did not gain the rating nor the fanbase.
Kyunki SaaS Bhi Kabhi nahi thi
One of the longest-running shows on television and also one of the biggest hits of Smriti’s career. This show was produced by Ekta Kapoor and ran from 2000 to 2008. Smriti played the role of Tulsi Mihir Virani. The show was mainly about a joint family with mother in law and her equation with her three daughters-in-law. This family drama centred around how the daughter-in-laws created trouble in the love lives of their grown sons and how the mother in law tackled the misunderstandings and conflicts that it caused in the house.
Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii
Another hit TV series from the house of Ekta Kapoor. This show also starred Smriti Irani. The show ran for eight years from 2000 to 2008. This was yet another family drama, which was a hit with the Indians who tuned in every week to see what was going to happen next. The show was about a husband and wife in a joint family, Om Aggarwal and Parvati Aggarwal. The show showed the struggles of living in a joint family but also the happiness that comes from residing with three generations of family members.
