Similarity in looks with the Asus Zenfone 2

In terms of looks, the phone looks exactly like its predecessors in the Zenfone 2 series. It comes with a hard grade plastic body with a metal finish that gives the back cover an elegant look. The back is of a curved arc shape, along with the power button on the top of the phone. The volume control is placed on the back cover of the phone. Although many critics and experts do not like the fact that the power button is placed on top, users who have previously used old Nokia or Sony Ericson phones have no issues with the power button being on top. The build quality of the phone is actually quite superb.

LED flash sets Asus Zenfone apart

The only difference this phone carries, which sets it apart from its Zenfone 2 brothers, is the high power 13 MP secondary camera placed on the front side of the phone. The camera comes with two LED flashes. The primary camera of the Zenfone Selfie is also a 13 megapixel one, with two LED flashes. This wonderful and high power front camera is something that sets it apart from other smartphones of any brand, and makes the phone perfect for people who are all about clicking selfies and uploading them on Facebook and Twitter. So you see – if you are mad about selfies, then this phone is just for you.

Asus Zenfone is powered up by powerful internals

Apart from the high power rear and front cameras, the Zenfone Selfie comes with a 5.5-inch screen that supports 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution with the addition of a 403 ppi frame rate. Let’s look at the internal mechanism of the phone.

  • The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64 Bit Octa core
  • Buyers can choose from two variants of the phone – one with a 2 GB RAM and the other with a 3 GB RAM.
  • The 2GB RAM variant of the Zenfone Selfie has an internal storage space of 16 GB while the 3 GB model comes with an internal memory of 32 GB.
  • Users can also expand the phone memory up to at least 64 GB with the help of a MicroSD card.

Latest operating system in Asus Zenfone – cherry on top

The phone also comes with an Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, which is beautified by Asus’s very own ZenUI. Some people reviews that the Zenfone 2 model came with certain bloatware, which caused the phone to lag a bit. But that was not so in case of the Zenfone Selfie. Some critics tried the phone out at Computex and commented that the Asus Zenfone Selfie showed smooth functioning without any sort of lag, delay or errors. This is good news for the entire smartphone community – because each and every smartphone user wants a phone that runs smoothly and does not have to be restarted on an hourly basis.

DSLR Camera on a smartphone

Now coming to the 13 MP secondary or front camera:

  • The camera uses a 1/3.2-inch sensor from Toshiba, with an aperture of f/2.2 and a focal length of 24 mm.
  • The sensor is the same in the case of the back camera.
  • But the only difference is the aperture of f/2.0 and focal length of 28 mm.
  • Both the front and the back facing camera feature laser autofocus systems, which is very much helpful in clicking high-quality images and selfies at the best possible and most accurate focal point.
  • All this may seem a bit technical to many, but DSLR owners understand what we are talking about here.

Easy user interface makes clicking pictures quite easily in Asus Zenfone

The camera’s user interface is quite similar to the interface used in the Asus Zenfone 2 series cameras. The front facing camera of the Asus Zenfone Selfie comes with modes such as HDR, selfie panorama, selfie low light, and various other things. When tested at Computex, the image captured by the front camera was quite satisfactory when the low light atmosphere of the show floor was taken into consideration. Although it was a first run test, more information will be uncovered as the phone is released on the market, and people buy the phone.  So it’s better to wait and watch before arriving at a final judgment.

Wherever you are, whenever you feel like – you can stay connected with the rest of the world as well as the digital world. Probable price range and market competition

There are several phones in the market that come with high power front facing cameras. Brands like Micromax, HTC, etc. have all launched selfie specific phones that come with DSLR grade cameras, perfect for clicking selfies. The price of these already existing models is well within an affordable range. Even before its launch, the Asus Zenfone Selfie is facing a lot of competition in the market already. So, for the purpose of beating its competitors and capturing the majority market, Asus has to make sure that the Selfie series is moderately priced as well. No smartphone user would want to take a bank loan in order to buy a smartphone – so they need to keep this fact in mind before deciding a base price. No probable price has yet been declared by Asus, so buyers will just have to wait and watch.
